The Addison of Cornersburg

The Addison of Cornersburg was described to me as a “hidden gem.” After having placed my mother there for a month of respite care, I have to agree. My mother said that she liked it, it was very clean, and it was a very nice place. The staff are excellent, and I feel that they really care about the residents and enjoy working there. When my mother arrived, there was a welcoming basket in her room that contained chocolates, hard candies, a mug, teabags, and a throw blanket.<br><br>My mother had a stroke 6 years ago that caused left hand weakness and loss of dexterity, and she had recently fractured her right hand, which made it difficult for her to raise a cup up to her mouth to drink with having a splint extending past her wrist and covering the thumb on the good hand. Doug went out and bought her a nonspillable travel mug with a large straw, so she was able to drink much easier. She also has dementia and constantly asks what day it is. One day, I walked into her room and found they had placed a digital calendar monitor on the table next to her La-Z-Boy chair which had the current date and day of the week clearly displayed for her.<br><br>When I dropped in unannounced one evening
